Question 2
Can my car insurance provider kick me out of grandparents house?... after my mom n sister moved into an apartment downtown ive been living with my grandparents. i have no job, i cant afford school, so i basically just help out around the house since they are in their 80's. recently i was told by my car insurance provider that i had to pay for the insurance for me to be on the grandparents car or move out. the reason i have to move is because apparently im too much of a liability for them, when i haven't even had a car wreck or anything with my own car just a year before. can they legally do this in my state (michigan) or even federally?
im 21 not 18 and again ive been driving for a while before i was put on their insurance. oh and the best part about this situation, is that their auto insurance agent is my biological aunt.
Can someone help please? They really need me back at my grandparents house.
Answers
1) No they cant tell you where to live. - emiller1998
2) No one can make you move, except your grandparents. Their insurance company can however, use your presence in the house as an excuse to refuse them insurance. It sounds like you're really in a family squabble with your aunt who just happens to be your grand parents insurance agent. That's why I have made a dedicated effort to keep family and business matters separate all my life. - mustanger
3) LOL No Insurance Providor can Force a Move. Statewide or Federally Infact Insinuating that you have to move "implying" is Against the law. Since Insurance company's are Privatly Owned by Federally Commissioned they are governed by the state law in which they have to obide by the same. That means they can't legally tell you to do anything. Only a Judge can order a move. - Chad
4) the only way i know how to fix it is by putting you on the insurance as not allowed to drive the car. my insurance policy has my wife as not allowed to drive my car for the same reason - mario
5) If you are living at their address and have a drivers license, you could drive their car and need to be added to their insurance coverage. You could ask about being listed as excluded. If they will allow that, that would solve the problem but you wouldn't be covered if you did drive their car. - oklatom
6) sounds like a mother/aunt conspiracy to get you out of grandparents home and on to a more productive self sustaining life. (i don't think i'm hearing the whole story, only your side) if your g.p. can afford to carry you on their policy and not create a burden for them then so be it. just don't be using the grand parents, that's not nice. - ramcharger
7) The car insurance company cannot kick you out of the house.
Your grandparents can kick you out of the house.
Your grandparent's car insurance company can require your grandparents to pay for insurance for everyone in the house who has a license. If they do not wish to pay what that car insurance company would charge for insurance for you, and you want to keep your license, then they (your grandparents) can kick you out. If you sell your car and surrender your license, then they no longer need to do so.
Your own car insurance company can refuse to insure you in your grandparent's house, but they cannot make you move. You also have the option to sell your car, so that you no longer need ny car insurance. - StephenWeinstein

Question 3
How much is insurance for a bmw 3 series for 17 year old?... When I am turning 17 years old i am getting either a bmw 3 series e36 or e46 and i was wondering what the average insurance rates are. also what would the be for an e36 m3? or an e46 coupe?
e36= 1991-2000
e46= 1998-2006 *the models are made at the same time in some years*
Answers
1) You don't want to know; at 17, premiums on a car like that will eat you alive. There's no way we can estimate them here, since you didn't tell us anything except your age. At 17, your only source for insurance is your parents' policy; you can't get your own until you're at least 18. Call their agent, but be sitting down when you get the premiums. - David
2) Haha the first guy is smart... you don't wanna know, just get an SUV man - Dylan
3) Getting new car insurance is one of the simplest ways to save your money. You can get a fast quote at websites they most often give you competing prices.

Question 4
DMV behind the wheel test rental cars?... I live in Los Angeles, CA where can i go to rent a car and take the DMV test with it? what do i need to bring? Locations and numbers are really helpful and i also want it cheap please :) thank you
Answers
1) I'd have to say no, you can't do that--the DMV page says you can use a rental car IF you're the named insured on the rental contract, but without a license, you can't rent a car! Sort of a catch-22 situation, but I'd say you're out of luck.

(Page down to Financial Responsibility, line 4) - David
2) what - Flower
3) "David" is correct. In addition rental car companies won't rent a car if they know it is to be used for a DMV drive test. Before the test begins the examiner inspects the car to see if it is street legal (the requirements are on pages 11 & 12 of the Driver Handbook) and rental companies don't want to run the risk of the car being put out of service. - Peedlepup

Question 5
Which state's vehicle insurance requirements do I have to follow?... I live in Oregon but do not plan on staying here permanently but my car is registered in California. I intend to keep my car registered in California. But do insurance companies require me to insure following Oregon standards or California standards? In other words, if I get into a car accident while temporarily living in Oregon, will my California insurance be valid?
Answers
1) leave it all in cal/you will be fine - ken k
2) Since you're registered in CA, you have to follow CA's insurance laws. However, how long do you plan to stay in OR? Most states require you to get registered and licensed within 30 days of moving in, even if you're not staying permanently. - David
3) Mind, I recommend you locate a local auto insurance agent to assist you. Since I live in Alaska I can't suggest an agent in Oregon, but here is an online resource that can help you. http://www.lowestquoteonline.info/Auto-Insurance.html
