I hit a car...please please help!?

Question 1
I hit a car...please please help!?... I got my license and then two days later I hit a car turning off of my street. All I did was scratch the paint a little bit. I got out and gave the lady my insurance information and all of that. A week later they called me and said that I messed up their tire, but I know I didn't. Neither of us called the police, I had no idea that you were supposed to after getting in an accident. Im not sure what happens next... What do I do? Am I going to go to jail for failure to report the accident?

Answers
1) Calm down and take a deep breath

Report it to your insurance. They will handle it. That is what insurance is for - Rod Knocker

2) You call your insurance company and report the accident, then let them handle it. If the claimant calls you again, refer them to the adjuster. The accident is probably "under the radar" as far as reporting to the police or DMV, but do call your insurance company. - David

3) no but she tecknicle do not have profe you did it youll probely go to cort and the jujge will work out how muck it cosed or if you even have to pay - Jacob

4) Make sure you get a copy of the police report. I also rear ended a car and had min damage. Since i did not adhere to the report by attesting my side, i got my license suspended and my insurance dropped me and I was 100% responsible for paying the damage out of pocket.

Also call your insurance company and give them the others drivers info so they can handle it for you. TRUST ME!!! Its best to just get it over with and behind you. - reviewqueen

5) Do they not teach the proper procedures when involved in an accident anymore ?? These are the steps to be taken when involved in an accident : first, make sure there are no major injuries to anyone involved - do no move anyone, especially if they are injured; contact the Police, Highway Patrol or similar & have them write a report, even if no one is hurt; both parties need to exchange all info - personal & insurance; ask any witnesses if they will state what they saw; take photos (if possible) of all vehicles & the surrounding areas; someone may need to direct traffic until an Officer arrives; never admit fault, whether it was yours or not; contact your insurance company ASAP and give all details...

The problem you face now is that without the vital Police report, the other party can claim anything they want to; you will not go to jail; contact your insurance co (if you haven't done so already) and let them handle all the details - that is what you pay them for - not 2 B fooled

6) Pretty much what others have said, you need to call your insurance company, but without a police report and pictures, the person you hit can make a claim like that and get away with it.

P.S. your insurance is about to spike. - Meh

7) You are not going to jail. You might get fined some money and receive some points on your license. Pay for the tire. Tires cost less than fighting over car accident claims. - StephenWeinstein

Question 3
I just got drver lic- but I have no car (will buy a car 6 month from now) Ins-Co made me pay just to have lic.?... After I got my driver license, State Farm ins send my uncle an additional bill due to I have been living with him while I am attending school. I will buy a car 8 month from now ( $ is being save) What do I need to do ? turn in my license for now if so Do I have to take written/ road test again? Thanks

Answers
1) Tell your uncle to add you to his policy as an exclusion. You will not be able to drive his cars at all, but it will not cost him anything. - Rod Knocker

2) I don't understand why you would be charged for just having a license. Maybe it's because they assume you're driving your uncles vehicle? What state do you live in? That may have something to do with it. I would suggest contacting State Farm and talking to them about it. - tydy513@att.net

3) Rod's right, just have him change your information on his policy. I know you were excited but jumped a little quick. I would also recommend being careful not to drive other people car until you get your insurance together. If you get ticket or traffic violation you'll have higher rates. - reviewqueen

4) y did they do that i never heard of that. what state do u leave n. i stay in louisiana n that don't work like that you need to get in touch with someone higher then them - Sherone

5) State Farm is correct. Insurance rates are based on the total number of persons with licenses in the household, including those who do not have cars. Your uncle must pay the bill. State Farm cannot make you pay, but you should reimburse your uncle. - StephenWeinstein

Question 4
Someone hit my car almost 3yrs ago and promised to pay for the damage still hasn't?... My car was parked and this guy descided he was going to try to push my lowered 97 chevy cavilier with a lifted toyota tacoma, well didn't work and it put a big dent in my trunk, He promised to fix it or pay for the damage, at this time when this happened i was going to trade this car in for a masda mx6 well the dealership was going to give my 3700 for my car well i could take it to trade it in after this happened. This guy has excuse after excuse why he hasn't paid for the damage, i lost out on 2,oo0 dollars on trade in for this car, the damage he did was around a 1,000 he has paid me like 300. He has had the money to make this right but blows it on stuff his girlfriend wants. I have had it What should i do?
And i wanted to add that this man is in his late 30's and should know better.
There were three witnesses. Two were in the truck with him and one was in the house with me. Doesn't it cost money to take him to claims court? And i don't have the car anymore.
He was also drunk when he did it i could have got him in so much troble if i would have called the cops but he sware up and down he would fix it. At this time i thought he was a decent persone who kept to his word then he got a 19yr old girlfriend who seems to contorl what he does with his money.
How would i go about filling a claim what kind would i file and would it cost money?

Answers
1) Do you have his promise in writing? If not, you're probably SOL by now. You could take him to small claims court, but chances of proving a verbal agreement are about zilch. - David

2) WOW - Have you got a problem. Did by chance you get something / anything in writing ?? If not, the only possible way to connect him to the damage was the $ 300 he already paid you, and that would require that he gave you a check with a note about being partial payment for damage or close. I'm not sure if a list of people who heard him say he would pay for it would work .... - rick29148

3) Sue him, and next time, do not wait this long. - StephenWeinstein

4) Most property damage claims have a 3 year statute of limitations, it depends on the state. You may no longer be able to collect from this. Why did you wait so long? This should have been turned into his insurance 3 years ago. - just_me

Question 5
cheap auto insurance?... i need it to be super cheap and by super cheap im talkin dirt. i never get pulled over so im not worried about quality i just need to make sure my car is not reposessed. i would like to stay away from the "commercial" carriers like progressive and geico as i am actually uninsurable by geico (i tried) and progressive totally screwed me over which is why insurance is so expensive for me as it is. i know "you get what you pay for" but i dont care all im concerned with is price. please dont lecture me just give forth good info. thank you
btw i have a TERRIBLE driving record (two speeding tickets and a failure to yield, no biggie. BUT my old insurance carrier screwed me by paying out on two accidents that were by no means my fault without even investigating and for which i was not cited at all. and a couple possession charges but i dont think those went against my driving record cause i was not "under the influence" they were POSSESSION ONLY) and i just want to stress i dont care about quality cause i am an EXCELLENT driver and i NEVER get pulled over (except of course those first few times when i first started which were over 3 years ago but under 5 lol)

Answers
1) "i never get pulled over"--and you never, ever have accidents, either? There are cheap companies out there, but you'll have to do your own homework on the price. If majors like Geico won't write you, your only option may be the non-standard (high risk) market, which won't be cheap.

I juet read your additional details, and you're frankly on a fool's errand. (Why did you possess if you didn't use?) Those, plus the moving violations, have dug you a deep hole, and now you have to live in it for at least three years. No lecture, just facts. - David

2) I totally understand, if you mentioned repossession then i assume your financing your vehicle. I wouldn't think of just being pulled over. What if your hit by an uninsured motorist and your vehicle is no longer drivable? you can accidentally hit someone and they can call the cops and find that your not insured or under insured and sue you personally liable.

To answer your question... "Freeway" insurance is one of the least expensive companies and so is Infinity insurance. Go through my website or a broker and allow them to quote you. - reviewqueen

3) When I go looking for replacement car insurance is a fast and easy way to save a ton of money. You can get a quick estimate at websites they often give you competing quotes.

I know people who have used and recommend http://www.InsureAutoNow.info - Tomas M

4) it might be cheaper to take taxis.seriousley look into it.i hate insurance companies they pay everone but you.some dick could say they want $2000. because you blinded him with your high beams.boom he gets $3ooo. just incase.you are in ontario right.stay away from the roads untill you are 75. - Bob Loblaw
